Mrs. Gilman and her husband Richard are both Dallas natives, as were her parents.   She graduated from Hillcrest High School, and then went on to earn degrees in Theatre and Speech Education from Washington University in St. Louis and SMU.   She has been a Theatre teacher for many years, teaching every grade from preschool creative dramatics through college theatre.

Having served on advisory boards of Temple Emanu-EI, Methodist Hospital Foundation, and Frisco Community Theatre, Mrs. Gilman said she hopes to make a difference in helping to spread the word about glaucoma screening and care.   She said, “My father had mentioned to me that he had low tension glaucoma that went undiagnosed far too long. When I received the same diagnosis of low tension glaucoma, I realized how fortunate I was to know this genetic history.  I am grateful to Dr. Fellman for his excellent care.”

Mrs. Gilman has taught Sunday School for over 40 years.  Her happiest moments are spent with her husband and her 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren.   She is looking forward to the birth of another grandchild very soon.
